What is Russia Today? Russia, or more properly, the Russian Federation, is still the largest country in the world. For over 70 years, it was at the centre of the Soviet Union. Since 1991, it has been an independent nation, along with the former Soviet Republics. Business has been good for map-makers and banknote designers. One now has to include the following when describing the 'former Soviet Union': Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The vast majority of foreign organisations have, therefore, little experience of trading with these countries, and often have very limited knowledge about their culture, people, customs or history. Russian Communications helps business to understand Russia.
